QLT Inc. is a global biopharmaceutical company specializing in developing treatments for eye diseases as well as dermatological and urological conditions.

Tolmar, Inc. is a private pharmaceutical company. Through its related companies it operates five manufacturing facilities outside the U.S. and sells commercially branded generics and in-licensed products in more than 17 countries.

Burrill & Company’s Role

Burrill was retained by QLT and led the process, approaching both financial and strategic investors.
The assignment included the divestments of:

• Fort Collins manufacturing facility with >100 employees
• The Generic dermatology and dental products business

Burrill generated multiple offers and overcame a number of strategic issues including

• Negotiating a new contract for QLT products at the plant
• The ongoing “joint venture” with Sandoz
