Shionogi & Co. Ltd. is a major research-driven Japanese pharmaceutical manufacturer.

Burrill & Company’s Role

The Merchant Banking Group was exclusively retained by Purdue to pursue parallel “newco”  and M&A paths for Purdue’s entire “Research” organization (a series of programs in pain from early research to clinical stage products and an accompanying team of > 25 people).

The engagement involved creating a complex agreement structure covering worldwide research, development and commercialization – that varied across the US, EU and Japan.

Burrill managed multiple global negotiations and kept the team intact at a challenging time for the parent company.
