The JOBS Act

On April 5th, the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act (the JOBS Act), landmark legislation that makes significant changes to both the Securities Act of '33 and the Securities Exchange Act of '34. The bill's objective is to make it easier for companies to raise capital by easing the regulatory burdens, restrictions and costs presently associated with capital formation. Stephen A. Hurly

CEO, Burrill Securities

Stephen A. Hurly joined Burrill Merchant Banking as its CEO and head of investment banking in June 2011. He brings an expertise in assisting public and private firms with strategic transactions, difficult financings, product licensing, joint ventures and restructurings. He has experience at both bulge bracket firms as well as specialized boutiques. Through extensive industry relationships and global transaction experience in China, Japan, Australia, the European Union, and North America, Mr. Hurly and his team provide tailored solutions and insight to assist clients in reaching their strategic goals.

Mr. Hurly has previously worked at Hambrecht & Quist in San Francisco, and UBS in New York City. He is an expert in strategic transactions and difficult public and private capital raising. He has completed more than 100 transactions with an aggregate value of more than $10 billion and more than $400 million in capital raised. He has an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Engineering from Swarthmore College.
